The beginning of Samantha Flynn's story unfolds like most fairy tales do, born a beautiful baby of two loving parents, only to lose her mother at a young age and her father unexpectedly some years later only to be raised by her grandparents.

Her mother was dead, she knew that, but her father was just missing, vanished into the ether with no sign. Some people said he'd died, other people, most people, said he'd just walked away to start over somewhere else. Being a single father was hard enough, but being a single father and CEO of a thriving software company was astronomical and it just made sense that he'd run away from it.

Sammi never believed this though, because her father had promised to come back. As the weeks, months, and eventually years wore on, Sammi, now insisting on Sam, stopped looking, took that hurt and folded it up tight, let it fuel her.

High school wasn't easy. It wasn't hell, but it wasn't easy, and college was much the same, though it was more the fact that it wasn't what she wanted that caused her to drop out. Really she was fairly rootless, never quite sure what she wanted and always looking for something.

She never had to worry about money, being the majority shareholder of ENCOM would do that to a person. But at the same time she was never one of those girls who always bought herself the new big thing because she deserved it. For the most part she was careful enough with her money, parts for her bike, food, gas and electric bills, and occasionally posting her own bail, things most normal people worried about.

As far as she's concerned, Marv will always be her best guy, and he always has the best ideas.
